In the JAVMA article “Management of acute-onset pancreatitis in dogs: a Narrative Review” (J Am Vet Med Assoc. Published online June 5, 2024. doi:10.2460/javma.24.02.0107), the following correction is needed:

In the Anti-Inflammatory Therapy section, the authors originally stated the following on the topic of metamizole: “However, metamizole is not licensed in many countries and may even be illegal in some countries, including in the US, the UK, and Japan.”

The authors would like to correct their article by amending the statement regarding metamizole to the following: “However, metamizole is not licensed in dogs or humans in many countries. In the US, a product containing metamizole is licensed for use in horses and could be used off-label in dogs. Side effects have been reported, and further data about the safety of using this drug in dogs with pancreatitis are needed.”1
