Figure 2—The dashed circle should have been located only over the dorsal maxillary recess (purple), which is the exact location the surgical approach was performed, to be more accurate and to avoid damaging the nasolacrimal duct with a more ventral approach. The nasolacrimal duct separates both the dorsal and ventral recesses of the maxillary sinus in their cranial half, while in their caudal half both recesses are merged into one larger cavity; it is critical to preserve it during approach to the maxillary sinus.
