A free-ranging wild adult female Taiwan japalure (Japalura swinhonis) was found in the cage of captive elongated tortoises (Indotestudo elongata) at the Taipei Zoo in October of 2017. The lizard was lethargic; it laid down on the floor and then was found dead. No detailed history was available. The carcass was collected for postmortem examination.
Necropsy revealed scattered, yellow to brown, raised, encrusted skin nodules (0.5 to 1 cm in diameter) throughout the body surface (Figure 1). Below the crusts, the underlying skin was sunken or ulcerative with the presence of
