Journals Subscription Terms and Policies

All subscriptions to JAVMA publications are for a 12-month period. All subscription orders will begin with the next available issue. If preceding issues are missed, they may be purchased at the single-copy price. No subscription for AJVR is needed because it is an on-line only, fully open access journal.

All subscribers receive the print version of the journal and are provided access to the online archive of that journal for as long as the subscription is maintained. At this time, we do not offer online-only subscriptions to either journal. On request, the AVMA will grant institutions the right to provide access to the online archives of the AVMA journals to authorized users via a secure network, provided the institution maintains a current subscription and abides by specified terms and conditions. Back issues may be purchased individually at single-copy rates, so long as they are available. Please contact memberrecords@avma.org to purchase back issues. Standing orders will not be accepted. No sample copies will be issued. Foreign subscriptions will be sent via surface mail.

Please note:

  • All prices are subject to change.
  • Payment must be made in U.S. funds drawn from a U.S. bank.
  • Checks, money orders, and credit cards are accepted.
  • UNESCO coupons are not accepted.
  • Wire transfer payments are not accepted.


Claims Policy

Replacement copies will be sent when available; no credit or refund will be given if replacement copies are no longer available. Replacement copies will be sent only once. Please contact memberrecords@avma.org for claims for missed copies.

U.S. Subscriptions

Please allow at least 15 days from issue date before filing a claim order. Claims for missing or damaged issues must be reported within 30 days of the issue date for free replacement.

Non-U.S. Subscriptions

Please allow at least 45 days from issue date before filing a claim order. Claims for missing or damaged issues must be reported within 90 days of the issue date for free replacement.

Subscription Refunds

Refunds for cancelled subscriptions will be given on a prorated basis for remaining periods of 3, 6, or 9 months. A service fee of 15% will be charged for subscriptions cancelled within the first 3 months. Refunds of less than $5 will not be made.
