Why did the AVMA journals website change?
We are committed to providing readers with peer-reviewed, scientific journal articles and news in an easy-to-access online format. In addition to the journals site’s new look, you’ll also find a more user-friendly navigation, optimized mobile experience, intuitive design, and enhanced search functionality that allows you to find and filter content by topic or author.
Are older issues of the journals still available?
All JAVMA and AJVR issues, including archived issues, published between 2000 and the present will be available on the new AVMA journals website. This includes full-text web pages plus PDFs for content from 2006 to the present, as well as PDFs for content from 2000-2005.
What will happen to all my bookmarks from the previous site? Will they still work?
Rest assured, your bookmarks will continue to work. As part of our migration, we are putting in place URL redirects that take users from the previous website to the new platform. We encourage you to update your bookmarks to the new AVMA journal pages to optimize your user experience.
Do I need an account to use the AVMA journals website?
Not at all. You can search the archive without an account, as well as read abstracts and news articles. You can also share articles via social media buttons.
Can I use my previous AVMA journals sign-in credentials?
You can use the email address/user ID from the previous version of the AVMA journals site, but you will be prompted to reset your password the first time you attempt to sign in.
How do I update my mailing address and other information?
After signing into the website, you can access your account information by clicking your name in the top-right corner of the screen, or the person icon on mobile.
What can I do if I'm having trouble with my online access?
Please contact us.
How do I sign up for alerts about new content?
You can subscribe to the JAVMA News Bulletin and JAVMA: In This Issue email newsletters on the email preferences page. You can also sign up for citation alerts for individual articles using the citation alert button. To edit these alerts, please sign in to your account, navigate to “My Library,” and then “Alerts.”
Can I access individual articles without a subscription?
You can purchase individual digital articles on demand through the pay-per-view system, regardless of AVMA membership status or subscription. Simply click the “purchase article” button on the article you’d like to purchase and follow the check-out instructions. You will need an account to purchase an article.
What are the technical requirements of the new AVMA journals website?
The AVMA journals website has been optimized for cross-browser functionality and should display correctly in all currently supported web browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Internet Explorer 11 is supported, though some features may not be optimized for that browser. Earlier versions of Internet Explorer are not supported.
The website uses a responsive design to provide an optimal experience on desktop, tablets, and mobile devices. Individual articles are also available as PDFs, which can be read using Adobe Reader or comparable PDF-viewing software.
