AVMA Copyright Agreements

The AVMA requires that a Copyright Agreement be completed for all manuscripts published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association or American Journal of Veterinary Research. The corresponding author is responsible for completing the form on behalf of all authors. Manuscripts will not proceed to production until a completed form has been received.

For JAVMA:

Publication platforms and associated fees

There is no fee for authors to publish their manuscripts in the JAVMA.
Articles published in the JAVMA are posted to the journals website at no charge to the authors. However, access to the full text of these articles is restricted to subscribers or available on a pay-per-view basis.
Authors can choose to have their manuscript made freely available in open access format for all to read, download, and share. The open access fee is $1,200. For AJVR:

Publication platforms and associated fees

All manuscripts are published open access in the AJVR. Open access articles will be licensed under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC license.
All newly submitted manuscripts will be subject to open access Article Processing Charges (APC). The APC will only be invoiced upon acceptance of a manuscript. The open access charges are $1,200. For information on joining the AVMA or renewing your AVMA membership, please click here.

Authors will be prompted to complete the related forms when their manuscripts are accepted.
