Following the Executive Board meeting March 30–April 1, the board and House Advisory Committee traveled to Washington, D.C., to lobby for passage of the Veterinary Workforce Expansion Act. Supported also by the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges, the legislation is meant to add to the number of public health and biomedical research veterinarians. Prior to the AVMA leadership's biennial visit to Washington, the board, among other things, approved revised Guidelines on Acclimation Certificates, which now state veterinarians should specify a temperature range acceptable or animals during transport.
